Item 15: As physical dimensions are solidified, a more detailed calculation of component weight and the resulting CG location can be made. This process has been made into another spreadsheet, shown below, using Raymer’s Chapter 15 equation set for general aviation aircraft. This calculation is completed but should be viewed as tentative, as many values may change as the design progresses. With this spreadsheet framework established, however, updates are quick and easy. It is confidence inspiring to note that the detailed empty weight in Table 11 (2126 lb) is quite close to the initial estimate made in Table 1 (2033 lb).
